Research Assistant (News Clips for Short Documentaries)

Position: Research Assistant Department: Documentary Production Location: Remote Employment Type: Part-time Job Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented and resourceful Research Assistant to join our documentary production team. The primary responsibility of this role is to find and curate relevant news clips on YouTube that will be used in the creation of short documentaries. The ideal candidate should have a keen eye for detail, excellent research skills, and a passion for storytelling. Key Responsibilities: • Research and Curate News Clips: o Identify and source news clips on YouTube that are relevant to the themes and topics of our short documentaries. o Ensure that the selected clips are of high quality, relevant, and accurate. o Organize and catalog the sourced clips for easy access by the production team. • Verify Content: o Fact-check the content of the clips to ensure their authenticity and accuracy. o Verify the copyright status of the clips and document necessary permissions or fair use considerations. • Collaborate with Production Team: o Work closely with production team to understand the narrative needs of each project. o Provide recommendations for clips that best fit the storyline and enhance the documentary's message. • Maintain a Database: o Create and maintain a comprehensive database of sourced clips, including metadata such as date, source, and content description. o Keep records of all sources and permissions for future reference. • Stay Updated: o Stay informed about current events and trending topics that may be relevant to ongoing or future documentary projects. Qualifications: • Education: o Bachelor's degree in Media Studies, Journalism, Communication, or a related field preferred. • Experience: o Previous experience in media research, journalism, or content creation is a plus. o Familiarity with YouTube and other online video platforms. • Skills: o Excellent research and analytical skills. o Strong attention to detail and accuracy. o Good understanding of copyright and fair use laws. o Proficiency in using video editing tools is a plus. o Strong communication and organizational skills. • Other Requirements: o A passion for storytelling and an interest in current events and news. o Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
