ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for an experienced Tax Accountant with a background in Australian accounting firms and a solid understanding of Australian taxation rules. As a Remote Tax Agent, you will be essential in managing and preparing monthly BAS and closing of the month, ensuring compliance with Australian taxation laws and regulations. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with expertise in Australian tax practices, particularly in the garden nursery industry.

TYPE OF WORK
This is a full-time position, although we are open to part-time arrangements for the right candidate.

WORKING HOURS
Preferred: 9 AM to 5 PM AEST/AEDT (Melbourne, Australia), with flexibility as needed.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare Financial Statements and Tax Returns: Analyse and process various types of source documents to prepare accurate financial statements and tax returns for review by our team leader.

- BAS Preparation and Lodgment: Accurately prepare and lodge Business Activity Statements (BAS) on time. Finalise bank reconciliations for BAS lodgments and attend to the teams bookkeepers' question and queries

- Compliance Review: Examine financial records and transactions to ensure adherence to Australian tax laws.

- Tax Advisory and Planning: Provide advice on tax-related matters and assist in tax planning initiatives.

- Regulatory Knowledge: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant tax regulations and industry practices.

- Collaboration: Work closely with the finance team to gather necessary documentation and data. Also, collaborate with our tax specialist team.

- Effective Communication: Ensure timely and efficient communication with the team.

TOOLS & PLATFORM
- Software: Our business use Xero and Google Spreadsheets and Excel or simply forwarding across bank statements and invoices. Handle bank statements and invoices to determine the appropriate allocation in financial statements and the tax outcomes of all items.

SUPPORT & DEVELOOPMENT
Our team will support you and assist with any queries. We are committed to providing training for any knowledge gaps to ensure you are well-equipped for the role.
