JOB OVERVIEW

The Medical Scheduler is responsible for coordinating and managing appointments for healthcare providers to ensure optimal patient care and operational efficiency. This role involves effective communication with patients, physicians, attorney and other healthcare staff, as well as a thorough understanding of medical terminology, clinic policies, and scheduling protocols.

To become a Medical Scheduler, you must have knowledge of the following:
1. Medical Terminology: Understanding basic medical terminology. This helps in accurately scheduling appointments and communicating effectively with providers and attorneys.
2. Physician Specialties: Knowledge of different medical specialties enables the scheduler to match patients with the right type of physician for their needs.
3. Electronic Health Records (EHR) System: Proficiency in using the clinic's EHR system is crucial for scheduling, updating patient information, and accessing relevant medical records.
4. Appointment Prioritization: Knowing how to prioritize appointments based on urgency, patient condition, and physician availability is vital for effective scheduling
5. Communication Skills: Clear and effective communication is key. Schedulers should be able to interact with patients, physicians, and other staff members professionally and courteously.
6. Problem-Solving Skills: Schedulers should be able to handle unexpected issues such as cancellations, emergencies, or scheduling conflicts with a calm and solution-oriented approach.
Qualifications:
• Previous experience in medical scheduling or a related administrative role is preferred.
• Proficiency in using Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance verification processes.
