Children's Book Copy Editor

Looking for someone with a Masters degree in English / Literature

Responsibilities:
Review and edit the story summary of different age children’s books
Ensure the text is appropriate for the target age group
Ensure the text is culturally and socially appropriate
Maintain an entertaining and engaging narrative from page to page
Make necessary changes to the text while preserving the overall story
Align the text with the background imagery and the synopsis of each page
Maintain consistency in language and tone throughout the book
Identify areas where the existing text can remain unchanged and where modifications are needed
Collaborate as needed with Adrian/Chief Storyteller to achieve the desired end product

Requirements:
Strong copyediting and proofreading skills
Familiarity with children’s literature and different age groups
Knowledge of cultural and social sensitivities when writing for children
Ability to create an engaging and entertaining narrative
Attention to detail and ability to maintain consistency
Familiarity with picture story books and their structure
Note: The copyeditor plays a crucial role in ensuring that children’s books are not only grammatically correct but also appropriate, culturally sensitive, and entertaining.
