Profile Description

I am a licensed Filipino veterinarian with nearly seven years
of academic and administrative experience at a state university in the
Philippines. My roles have spanned instruction, research, and extension,
including positions as Research Director, Review Center Director, and Director
of the Animal Care and Use Committee overseeing four campuses. I have also
served as an ISO auditor, internship coordinator, thesis coordinator, and in
other significant capacities. My experience with learning management systems
(Moodle and Google-based) includes serving as the faculty trainer for the
university’s online educational platform.
 
I hold a master’s degree in veterinary medicine from the
University of the Philippines Los Baños, where my thesis focused on One Health
and epidemiology. My research involved the molecular detection of scrub typhus,
a vector-borne zoonotic disease, and a Knowledge, Attitudes, and Practices
study on the same topic. Additionally, I co-authored a study on the
socio-economic impacts of African Swine Fever, published in the Frontiers in
Veterinary Science journal. These experiences have provided me with essential
research and analytical skills, along with a deep appreciation of the
interconnectedness between environmental, animal, and human health.
 
A pivotal experience in my career was my six-month internship
at the World Organisation for Animal Health, Subregional Representation for
South-East Asia (SRR-SEA) in Bangkok, Thailand. There, I developed a rabies
dashboard using PowerBI and crafted a One Health training catalogue for
Southeast Asia. This role not only broadened my perspective but also enhanced
my technical abilities in data visualization and program development and
exposed me to the international workplace.
 
Additionally, I serve as support staff for the Asian
Association of Veterinary Schools (AAVS), where I am a core group member of
working groups focused on Veterinary Education Establishment and Veterinary
Education Research. In this capacity, I help create flyers, conduct
presentations, and support various other tasks, contributing to the advancement
of veterinary education across Asia.
