Profile Description

Hello, I am Gian, I'm 29 years old from Cebu City, Philippines. I graduated in University of San Carlos with a Bachelors degree of Fine Arts major in Advertising Arts. I started my design career as a graphic designer in Grey Philippines twelve years ago, Grey is an advertising agency which handles multinational and international brands and is recognized as one of the top agencies in Philippines. In the advertising world, we were trained to translate creative briefs into artworks. We brainstorm, pitch ideas and make visual concepts more so work on a handful revisions and rejections on a daily basis. Advertising taught me a lot in making designs that are on strategy and relevant. I designed print ads, infographics and storyboards. I assisted video productions and product photography. 

After almost 2 years in advertising, I moved overseas as a publication designer in Bangkok, Thailand. SmartWork Media is a New York based company which owns business-to-business publications like Invision, Instore and Pets Plus. My key roles are making layouts, templates, typography and illustrations. SWM has been actively joining international competitions in publication design and one thing I can highlight during my short stay is being a finalist out of 200 entries in one of the biggest B2B publication design competition. Working in SWM pushed me to better and making sure I give my best in what I do.

My skillset includes, branding and visual identity, logo design, packaging & label design, print production, typography & lettering, publication design, advertising and web design.
