I wouldn't be surprised if I came out of my mom's womb with a pen and paper. I love writing. I've been writing since as far back as I can remember. I wrote my first poem in third grade and my first short story in the sixth grade. I wrote about love in high school, then wrote about my angst in college. Finally, after graduation, I stopped writing about my feelings and started to write what I was told to write about. That's when I became a journalist. There's freedom in not being the architect of what you write about. But it didn't mean that I lost myself because I was the interior designer of my own house. Despite being told what to write about, I still write my way. I string the words my way, I start and end a story my way. A decade later, I became an editor. There's beauty in being a beholder of someone else's architecture and interior design. But writing, which remains my passion, continues to burn inside me despite this new job. I wouldn't be surprised if I take my last breath with a pen and paper in hand.
