Detailed SEO Process
1. Initial site evaluation and audit. This is basically "knowing" the website further. What are the products and services offered, how was it structured, what is the CMS, what is the tone of the entire interface, etc.
2. Set-up the website audit in SEO tools like SEMrush, Google Analytics, and Google Search Console.
3. Perform keyword research.i. List all the products and services of the website as well as key phrases relevant to its niche.ii. Expand the list by doing the keyword research in Keyword Planner and Semrushiii. List the top 5 competitors and collect their top keywords as well.iv. Finalize the list, select only those that are highly relevant and have high search volume.v. Create keyword groupings out from the final list. Group the keywords related to each other in order to be used in one article or blog.
4. Create an on-page optimization checklist. This is where I list all the existing pages of the website and making sure they are fully optimized. The checklist will include the following: URL structure, focus keyword, meta title and description, internal and external links, alt attributes for images, word count and call-to-action.
5. Export all errors from SEMrush to google sheet and start fixing them. Once done, re-run the audit to ensure everything is fixed.
6. Once all pages are fully optimized, start backlinking.i. Do a backlink audit in SEMrush.ii. Check all toxic and spammy links and disavow them. iii. Do a competitor backlink audit. (Competitor Backlinking)iv. Extract their top referring domains and filter the relevant sites with high Domain Rating and Authority.v. Build our own links from the filtered, qualified referring domains from the top 3 - 5 competitors.vi. Once the list is exhausted, do link prospecting depending on the client’s niche.
7. Continue monitoring the website's performance in SERPs and do a month on month comparison of statistics.
