I worked as a non-voice support for 7.5 years. 2.5 years with Convergys catering a US cable company handling technical, billing and sales support; and 5 years with Alorica catering a US telco company handling billing, basic technical and sales support.
Over the years that I have been working with the 2 US accounts, I developed the sense of empathy towards the customers, understanding their concerns and going beyond my support to help them. I always make sure to put myself in their shoes with whatever concern/issue they are experiencing, that way, I can completely empathize with them and gain their trust. Gaining trust is the most important strength and skill one must posses in order to have a smooth transaction with the customer and gaining their trust makes it easier to transition to sales. I always bear in mind to offer my customers the best option possible which will benefit both the company and customers.
