JOB OVERVIEW

We are seeking a Xero / Trust Accountant to join our short-term rentals management business in Australia. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing trust accounting and tax affairs, ensuring compliance with Australian regulations, and supporting the financial operations of our business.

Key Responsibilities:

Trust Accounting:
- Oversee all aspects of trust accounting, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and regulations.
- Disburse funds to property owners accurately and on time.
- Manage payments for maintenance and other property-related expenses.
- Ensure proper reconciliation of trust accounts and resolve discrepancies promptly.

Xero Accounting:
- Maintain and update financial records using Xero software.
- Prepare and process invoices for owners, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
- Generate financial reports to provide insights into the financial health of the business.

Tax Compliance:
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of the Australian tax landscape, including GST, BAS, and trust-related tax obligations.
- Ensure accurate and timely submission of all tax filings and compliance reports.
- Advise on tax strategies to optimise financial outcomes for the business and property owners.

Financial Management:
- Collaborate with the management team to support budget planning and forecasting.
- Provide financial insights to enhance operational efficiency and profitability.

Key Requirements:
- Proficiency in Xero: Demonstrated expertise in using Xero software for accounting and financial management.
- Trust Accounting Knowledge: In-depth understanding of trust accounting principles, regulations, and practices in Australia.
- Australian Tax Knowledge: Strong familiarity with Australian tax laws, GST, and compliance requirements.
- Experience: Previous experience in disbursing funds, paying maintenance expenses, and generating invoices is essential.
- Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail in all financial transactions and reporting.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to liaise with property owners, contractors, and stakeholders.
