Position Summary: We are looking for a passionate and dynamic Public Relations Specialist to join our team. This individual will play a critical role in shaping the public image of our company, building strong relationships with media outlets, and managing public communication. The PR Specialist will be responsible for researching speaking engagements, drafting press releases, liaising with news platforms, and keeping up-to-date with relevant trends in the government contracting world.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Media Outreach & Engagement:
• Research and identify media outlets, journalists, and influencers to build relationships and secure opportunities for social media coverage.
• Pitch story ideas, press releases, and other PR materials to media outlets such as CNN, MSNBC, and other news/radio platforms.
• Develop and maintain media lists for relevant publications and media outlets.
• Respond to information requests from clients and media members.
2. Public Relations Strategy:
• Develop and execute PR strategies to promote the company’s services and position it as a leader in government contracting and financial empowerment.
• Collaborate with leadership to understand key messaging and ensure consistency across media channels.
• Help ensure brand consistency across marketing materials.
• Write or edit speeches for executives and key spokespeople.
3. Speaking Engagements & Conferences:
• Identify speaking engagements and opportunities for networking with key decision-makers in government contracting.
• Engage in cold calling,
• Organize and manage logistics for speaking events.
4. Content Creation:
• Assist with creating written content for press releases, newsletters, and other PR materials.
• Draft speeches, presentations, and talking points for speaking engagements.
• Maintain a consistent tone of voice in all written communications.
5. Reporting & Analytics:
• Track and report on media coverage and campaign effectiveness.
• Provide regular updates on PR efforts to leadership.
6. Collaboration with Internal Teams:
• Work closely with the executive team who will manage daily KPIs and task delegation.
• Ensure all PR activities align with the company’s goals and vision.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor in Advertising and Public Relation is preferred
• Proven experience in public relations or a similar field.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong ability to network and build relationships with media contacts.
• Experience with media pitching and securing coverage across traditional and digital platforms.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects at once.
• Strong understanding of government contracting, or willingness to learn.
• Experience with press release writing, content creation, and pitching to media outlets.
• Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-hustle environment.
• Familiarity with communication tools such as PR platforms, media databases, etc.
