Key Responsibilities
Billing and Invoicing
Prepare, send, and manage client invoices, ensuring accuracy and compliance with legal billing standards.
Track and follow up on outstanding payments.
Bookkeeping
Accurately record financial transactions and maintain updated general ledger accounts for both the law firm and investment properties.
Accounting and Reconciliation
Perform monthly reconciliations for bank statements, credit cards, and client trust accounts.
Ensure financial records comply with legal accounting standards.
Financial Reporting
Generate regular reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements for the law firm and properties.
Budgeting and Forecasting
Prepare budgets and monitor cash flow to support financial planning and maintain financial health.
Expense Management
Track, categorize, and manage expenses for tax preparation and reporting purposes.
Client Trust Accounting
Manage trust accounts in compliance with IOLTA or equivalent regulations.
Investment Property Accounting
Oversee rental income, tenant deposits, monthly rent collections, and property-specific financial records.
Software Management
Evaluate, recommend, and implement appropriate accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Clear Accounting).
Required Skills and Experience
Minimum of 2 years in bookkeeping or accounting; CPA preferred.
Proven experience in legal billing and property management accounting.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero) and strong technical skills.
Familiarity with US accounting practices and systems, including trust account management.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently, follow instructions, and meet deadlines.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
Preferred Skills
Familiarity with IOLTA compliance and legal trust accounting standards.
Experience with property management software.
Associate degree or higher in accounting, finance, or related field.
